For the thousands of Americans who add bedrooms, play areas, study rooms, home offices and private dens to their homes every year, home additions can provide an easy way to extend living spaces without the need to move. An addition to your property can be the ideal solution for an expanding family looking for more space without the need to relocate. Even if you have no desire for increased space, you can boost the resale value of your home by making an addition to your house. A home with additional bathrooms, sunrooms, spare bedrooms or family rooms is almost guaranteed a higher price in the market.
If you are making an addition to your home with the intention of selling the property, then remember that only minor remodels will get you the maximum return on your investment. Avoid major and extensive home addition plans if you're planning on putting the property on the market immediately. A second story addition is more expensive and time consuming than adding on a bathroom, and you may enjoy greater benefits if you continue to live in the home for a few years in your new space, before selling the property. There are also local building codes to consider, failing which you could actually have your room addition project shut down.
Custom sunroom addition that blends perfectly with the rest of your home can give you an impromptu entertaining area that can also be used, by placing pots and plants, as an indoor garden. Your sunroom addition should be carefully set up to take maximum advantage of natural sunlight. New design features include roof vents that open the ceiling automatically when the sunroom becomes hot. A new kitchen addition can be built along the same lines as your existing kitchen, but on a scaled down version. You will need a larger deep freezer, and may be even a built in bar for entertaining. A family room addition can be a brightly lit and ventilated space that allows for TV viewing and other family activities.
I am wanting to convert a garage into a bedroom and a closet and a bathroom, carpet ect. The room next to it requires a little work carpet, closing off the washer and dryer and turning the closet that faces the den around. Would like to share the bathroom with the other room if possible.
